Oracy

At Beeston Primary School, we believe that Oracy is fundamental to children’s learning, development and lifelong success. Being able to communicate confidently, actively listen, express ideas and opinions, and engage positively with others are essential skills that children will draw upon throughout their lives and across the curriculum.
We are working in partnership with Voice 21 to develop and strengthen our Oracy provision across the school. Our approach explores all aspects of the Oracy Framework, supporting children to develop their physical, linguistic, cognitive and social-emotional Oracy skills.
We are building strong foundations through purposeful opportunities for children to talk, listen, discuss, explain, reason and present across the curriculum. We want every child to develop a confident voice and to understand how effective communication can help them learn, build relationships and participate in the wider world.
Our Oracy journey is ongoing. Over the next three years, we will continue to develop, embed and refine our practice alongside support from Voice 21, ensuring that Oracy becomes an integral part of teaching and learning across our school.
